Almost TRT: The Supplement Stack

Not Ready for the Needle? Boost Testosterone Naturally

This legal stack helps your body produce more testosterone so you’re stronger, more muscular, and have better erections.

Some men need testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). Their bodies just donโ€™t make much T anymore, usually because of aging. These guys are medically diagnosed with hypogonadism.

Other men arenโ€™t hypogonadal. They donโ€™t qualify for doctor-prescribed treatments, but theyโ€™re not pumping out testosterone like they used to. T-boosting supplements can work wonders for those men who are marginally deficient because of age, poor sleep, stress, exposure to too many testosterone-lowering chemicals, overtraining, or a not-so-great diet.

And, unlike actual testosterone replacement, these T-boosting supplements wonโ€™t cause your testicles to shrivel up.

The Stack

Lots of men feel the difference using just one of these supplements, but stack all three together and itโ€™s about as close as you can get to TRT.

1. Longjack (Eurycoma Longifolia or Tongkat Ali)

In a nutshell, Longjack increases testosterone via two actions:

  • It synthesizes testosterone by blocking its aromatization into estrogen.
  • It stimulates testosterone production in testicle Leydig cells.

In animal and human studies, subjects taking Longjack experienced a considerable rise in T-levels with a concurrent decrease in estradiol. Spermatogenesis also increased substantially, as did testicle weight, indicating more productive Leydig cells, and more โ€œproductiveโ€ testicles in general.

One study recruited 25 older cyclists, 13 male and 12 female. (It turns out it works in females, too.) Each cyclist received 200 mg. of Longjack every day for five weeks. Levels of free and total testosterone went up significantly in both men and women.

While the testosterone increases in men were caused by elevated luteinizing hormone (LH), along with the lower estradiol levels, the increase in womenโ€™s testosterone was believed to be caused by a significant decline in sex-hormone binding globulin (SHBG). That means that Longjack prevented the testosterone that women make naturally from being chemically bound up and made inaccessible to the body by SHBG. (More info on female low-T.)

In another study, scientists gave Longjack to 320 men suffering from hypogonadism. Before receiving the compound, only 10% of the men didnโ€™t have any of the complaints listed on the Aging Male Symptoms scale and only 35% of them had normal T-levels. After the study, 72% of them stopped having complaints related to low T, and a staggering 91% were found to have normal testosterone levels.

Longjack also selectively controls the conversion of DHEA and other androgens to testosterone. That means it also works independently of LH. As long as the substrate hormones are present (and theyโ€™re present in everyone), conversion to testosterone occurs.

Another study found that Longjack, unlike steroids, doesnโ€™t shrink the testicles or enlarge the prostate. As a fun bonus, Longjack appears to be a legit aphrodisiac.

The best form of Longjack is called LJ100. Itโ€™s found in Omega-Man High Absorption Longjack (Buy at Amazon). Omega-Man is formulated in a self-emulsifying delivery matrix designed to get all active fractions into the body. (The microemulsion is a game-changer for complete absorption.)

2. Forskolin Carbonate

This plant polyphenol dramatically increases testosterone levels and does a variety of things for the body that you normally canโ€™t accomplish without dieting and exercising. It does all this primarily by stimulating the production of an enzyme called adenylate cyclase, which in turn increases levels of a cellular messenger called cAMP.

In turn, elevated levels of cAMP increase testosterone levels, in addition to increasing thyroid secretion of T4 (increased fat burning), breaking down triglycerides, increasing protein synthesis in skeletal muscles, and increasing activation of brown adipose tissue, or BAT (which causes more fat burning, although through a different mechanism).

In one study, men in a 12-week trial increased total testosterone by 17% compared with a placebo group that decreased by 1%. In another mixed group of 50 test subjects, the forskolin users lost 1.8% body fat compared to the placebo group that gained 1% fat. In short, you get a little fat-burning action along with your testosterone boost.

Forskolin carbonate is found in Carbolin-19 (Buy at Amazon), which is designed for enhanced absorption and direction of action.

3. Magnesium and Zinc

Certain mineral deficiencies negatively affect testosterone production. For example, a magnesium deficiency affects testosterone levels by disrupting the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, which regulates hormone production in the body.

Magnesium is necessary for the proper function of Leydig cells in the testes. Without enough magnesium, Leydig cells donโ€™t respond well to LH stimulation, leading to decreased testosterone production.

A magnesium deficiency is also associated with increased levels SHBG. Remember, thatโ€™s the stuff that binds to testosterone and reduces its bioavailability. Testosterone prefers to bind to magnesium rather than SHBG. Binding to magnesium instead of SHBG increases free testosterone.

Likewise, a zinc deficiency affects testosterone production at multiple levels, including the regulation of GnRH secretion, enzymatic processes within Leydig cells, and testosterone binding.

Studies show that most Americans are at least a little deficient in both zinc and magnesium, especially the latter. Add a chelated zinc/magnesium supplement like Elitepro Vital Minerals (Buy at Amazon) to your stack to help build a strong foundation for healthy testosterone production.

How Do I Take This Stack?

  • Longjack (Omega-Man): Take one softgel per day.
  • Forskolin Carbonate (Carbolin-19): Take two softgels per day.
  • Magnesium & Zinc (Elitepro Vital Minerals): Take four tablets at night before bed since magnesium has a calming effect and helps you sleep.
