ABC Names Peggy Brevoort and Morris Shriftman Trustees Emeriti – Vitamin Retailer Magazine

On Feb. 20, the American Botanical Council (ABC, Austin, TX) named Peggy Brevoort and Morris โ€œMoโ€ Shriftman as trustees emeriti for their many years of service to the organization. Both joined the Board of Trustees in 2003 with Brevoort serving as president from 2003-2008.

In 1971, Brevoort and her husband Bill created East Earth Herb, Inc., a company specializing in the importation, manufacture and sale of Chinese herbal products. She served as the CEO from 1990 to 1999. She served as a board member of numerous organizations and was part of the First Herbalist Delegation to the Peopleโ€™s Republic of China in 1988.

โ€œPeggyโ€™s experience, insights, passion, and good judgment have helped ABC in many ways that are not possible to measure, and I will forever feel grateful for her contributions to the herbal community as a whole and my life in particular,โ€ said Mark Blumenthal, founder and executive director of ABC.

Shriftman is the founder and CEO of Mozart, LLC and has helped build companies in the natural, organic and nutritional supplement industries since 1970. He is experienced in new product development, strategic planning and tactical initiatives to solve supply chain issues and drive sales.

โ€œHe uses words in such an exquisite fashion that I feel like Iโ€™m listening to a poet. When Mo speaks, people listen. No one Iโ€™ve ever met sees so much of the big picture and communicates his wide vision as beautifully as Mo,โ€ Blumenthal said. โ€œHis support of ABC and our personal friendship have made my life, and the life of countless people, richer and more worthwhile.โ€

Brevoort and Shriftman will continue to attend board meetings as nonvoting members and have been granted lifetime memberships from ABC.
