During that trip, we taste tested a new flavor of the protein cookie made by CTRL in collaboration with Master Foods, and we absolutely loved it. Now, that flavor is available for the masses, and we can assure you: you don’t want to miss out.

CTRL Protein Cookies: Rainbow Six Black Ice Chocolate

CTRL is a relatively new brand aimed at athletes that have busy lives. After all, you can’t devote all of your time to painstaking meal prep, so CTRL’s assortment of meal replacement shakes, bars, and yes, cookies, provides a convenient, performance-friendly solution for athletes on the move.

The CTRL Protein Cookies, specifically, are wildly tasty and built with ingredients your grandmother would use. In addition, each cookie contains an impressive 15 grams of protein. What could be better than padding your macros as you eat dessert?

This newest flavor is called Black Ice Chocolate, and it’s a chewy, rich conglomeration of a chocolate base and white vanilla chip accents. It launched in collaboration with Rainbow Six Siege, part of a franchise of tactical shooter video games originally based on a Tom Clancy novel.

CTRL Protein Cookies – Ingredients

Protein Blend

The protein blend in CTRL Protein Cookies is composed of whey protein concentrate, collagen hydrolysate, milk protein concentrate, and wheat protein.

Whey protein is, of course, the industry standard for protein supplementation due to its high bioavailability. In addition, it contains all nine essential amino acids, making it a complete protein. Milk protein concentrate contains both whey protein and casein, which helps to balance out the protein profile. In fact, the combination of whey and casein has been shown to be more effective for body recomposition than whey protein alone.

One of the big differentiators of the CTRL Protein Cookies is the inclusion of collagen, which is also a protein that has shown tremendous benefits for skin and nail health, in addition to healing inflammation-driven tissue damage. As we learned from Alfaro in Episode #125 of the PricePlow Podcast, collagen helps provide some chew to the texture.

Another small differentiator here is the use of wheat protein. If you’re gluten-intolerant, you may wish to beware, but it’s also the last one in the protein blend.

Flavoring and More

As far as protein snacks go, CTRL’s Protein Cookies have a list to support big flavor. There’s a vegetable oil blend containing palm oil and soybean oil, providing a blend of saturated and unsaturated fats. For sweetening, CTRL has included brown sugar, corn syrup, stevia, and monk fruit extract.

The Black Ice Chocolate flavor additionally contains white vanilla crisps, cocoa, whole grain rolled oats, rice flour, almond milk, eggs, non-fat dry milk, milled flaxseed, peanut butter, vanilla, and several additional minor ingredients.

All told, CTRL didn’t sacrifice anything for taste, and you even get some fiber to boot.
