MuscleTech Creatine Chews: A Reliable Option With Testing

MuscleTech Creatine Chews COA 2023

Earlier this month, NOW Foods made waves yet again as a part of their testing regime that is helping to keep the industry honest. Hot off the heels of NOW’s testing of berberine supplements – in which it was revealed that an astonishing 90%+ berberine supplements tested did not meet label claims – we made an appeal for NOW to test creatine gummy products next. They answered the call.

As one who understands creatine might expect, 46% of the creatine gummy products tested by NOW Foods failed to meet their label claims, throwing doubt not only on the brands in question, but on the creatine gummy format as a whole.

One brand, however, is staking their reputation on a different kind of creatine edible: chewable tablets.

Legitimate Creatine Chews

When MuscleTech released their MuscleTech Creatine Chews, which are in chewable tablet form as opposed to gummies, we praised the format for its simplicity and novelty. Powders get boring, after all, and sometimes it’s nice to sink your teeth into something — but we want that “something” to actually be the active ingredient intended.

The issue with gummies is that creatine will break down to creatinine in water — but do chewable creatine tablets suffer the same fate? Only one way to find out — with testing.

So in response to NOW’s testing warpath, MuscleTech asserted that their Creatine Chews, unlike nearly half of the gummies that NOW tested, do meet label claims, and they have the certificate of analysis (COA) from corresponding lab tests to prove it.

The COA, which was tested on one tablet (as opposed to the three tablet serving size), showed 1045 milligrams of creatine, exceeding the 1000 milligrams claimed on the label.

We’re going to dive into a little summary on how MuscleTech Creatine Chews works, but first, let’s check PricePlow for good MuscleTech deals:

MuscleTech Creatine Chews – How They Work

You can read the full story in our main MuscleTech Creatine Chews article, but below is a quick synopsis of what the industry’s best-tested ergogenic ingredient can do for you.

Each 3 tablet serving of Creatine Chews contains 3 grams of Creapure creatine monohydrate. Here are the myriad benefits you can expect from creatine supplementation:

  • Improved muscular power
  • Higher energy levels
  • Lean mass gain
  • Faster sprint speed
  • Increased cognitive performance
  • Better cellular hydration

And that’s just scratching the surface. Creatine has been studied for decades and has been deemed effective, reliable, and safe. By upregulating adenosine triphosphate (ATP), or the body’s energy currency, your cells are able to burn more ATP, and therefore optimize metabolic function. The reason creatine’s benefits are so wide-ranging is that every cell requires ATP to perform, making creatine intake critical for everything from working out in the gym to doing brain work.

The issue is that it’s quite difficult to consume enough creatine through diet alone, and the body burns through two grams of it a day. As a result, creatine supplementation can go a long way towards correcting any potential shortfalls.

Why chews?

The problem with most creatine chew products, as NOW Foods discovered through testing, is that a lot of gummy-based products result in a lowered amount of creatine and a higher amount of its degraded byproduct creatinine over time as a result of the water content in gummies. Water-free tablets, such as MuscleTech’s Creatine Chews route around this problem, helping to ensure you’re consuming the label-claimed amount of creatine by the time you ingest it.

While NOW did show that it’s hard to know which creatine gummies actually contain the amount of creatine that brands claim, MuscleTech is taking strides to leave no such doubt about Creatine Chews.

It should be noted that the COA provided by MuscleTech was generated from analytical lab testing conducted in-house at the manufacturer. We’re confident in this — MuscleTech is simply “too big to mess up” — and we’re sure the brand would pass a third party testing lab as well, if consumers really need to know and rest easy.

Overall, it seems as though chewable tablets may be a better vehicle choice for creatine, rather than gummies. The water content in gummies is prone to convert the contained creatine into creatinine, which is undesirable… but chewable tablets have no such issues.
